Summary: I need a web application built for my software rating site. The purpose of the application is for users to be able to pick different combinations of software that integrate to build a complete “system” of different software. In the industry this application is being made for, there are many software options with some integrating and some not. Once they have built their “system” they need to be able to see exactly how the different pieces of software integrate and to be able to rate those integrations.
Description: A database will need to be created that will hold all the different software (with each piece of software falling into one of 18 categories) and the combinations that can be created based upon which pieces of software will integrate. If you studied math, this will rely on the “counting principle” or permutations and combinations theories. On the admin side of the application, I'll need to be able to update the application if new software arrives on the market or if certain pieces of software decide to integrate in the future.
On the user side of the application, there will be 18 drop down boxes, with each representing one of the 18 categories of software. The options in the drop down boxes will be the software choices that are in each category. When someone picks a certain piece of software, all the other drop downs will need to automatically repopulate based upon the different combinations of integrations. As the user picks different peices of software they like to build their “system”, I need logos of each piece of chosen software to display below on the page. This is to give a “visual” representation of the system they have chosen.
Once they have completed their “system”, I need for an individual to be able to click on a logo of each chosen piece of software and have a Javascript lightbox/shadow box to appear. This lightbox will have text explaining how each piece of software integrates (I need to be able to update this text) with the other pieces of software they have chosen. In addition, the users need to be able to rate the different each type of integration.
This application needs to be written in PHP5, MySQL, Javascript, AJAX, clean and tableless XHTML, and CSS (and any other language the programmer deems necessary). I have a hobbiest knowledge of PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript, but can completely do any other XTHML or CSS manipulation. I just need to know the different classes and ID's used to customize the final layout.
Time for completion is not as important as the provider fully understanding the application and taking the time to do it correctly. I am very patient and more than willing to talk through any questions the provider may ultimately have.
I can and will provide a more detailed description with mock up images to the winning bidder.
