Search Of Mysql Db On Web Site
Required skills: Javascript, PHP, MySQL
I am looking for a programmer to create a search script (using PHP) for my web site that will query an existing MySQL database, and return the results to the user. The MySQL database is a simple database of about 2,150 products and includes variables such as: product_name, price, URL, product_ID, category, subcategory, sub_subcategory. There are two parts to this project. The actual search feature that the end user will see, and reports that the only Webmaster will be able to see.
SEARCH: The search script needs to return results by relevance, i.e. the results must show in ascending order the products/categories/subcategories/sub_subcategories that have the most number of search terms matching words in those corresponding products/categories/subcategories/sub_subcategories. The search results must be presented to the user organized into category, subcategory, and sub-subcategory -- with each being a clickable hypertext link to the respective page (excluding subcategories). The search results must be presented to the user in an attractive/intuitive way and integrated with my web site's template. (No graphics knowledge will be required for the integration, only basic HTML and JavaScript knowledge as my template uses some JavaScript.)
Because the search term(s) input by the user will be displayed back to the user on the “Search Results” page, the user's input must be sanitized for potentially malicious characters. The search script needs to ensure that parameters and user input are sanitized by doing the following:

# Remove ' input and replace with (AMPERSAND)apos;
# Remove " input and replace with (AMPERSAND)#x22;

REPORTS: There will need to be a reporting feature for the Webmaster that produces reports of the queries made by the users. I will need reports that list (in ascending order) the following:
1. Last 100 Queries | Last 1000 Queries – Presents a list of all the last 100 or the last 1000 queries performed, showing the date and time for each query. (The report will show the last 100 or the last 1000 searched “Words”, “Phrases”, and “Words & Phrases”, starting with the most recent query.)
2. Search Volume Report – Number of Queries Performed – Presents a list of the number of searches performed in: Last 24 Hours, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Year, Last Year, All Time, or Custom Dates. (EACH ITEM IS A SEPARATE LINK/REPORT.)
3. Searched WORDS & PHRASES (This report will show a list of all individual words and phrases, i.e. the report generates a list of all searches conducted by users, regardless of how many words appeared in each query.)
a. Top 25 Searched Words & Phrases – Last 24 Hours, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Year, Last Year, All Time , or Custom Dates.
b. Top 100 Searched Words & Phrases – Last 24 Hours, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Year, Last Year, All Time, or Custom Dates.

For each listed item above, i.e. “Last 24 Hours”, “Last 7 Days”, “Last 30 Days”, “This Year”, “Last Year”, “All Time”, or “Custom Dates”, each listed item will be a separate link to that report. If I click on “Custom Dates,” I am taken to a page where I can specify a starting month/day/year AND an ending month/day/year for that particular report, from drop down menus.
For Reports #3, #4, #5, and #6 each report will also show the total number of queries for the current selection, i.e. how many searches users did in that time frame.
If you can finish quickly, and if do a good job on this project, then I can guarantee there will be additional work for you after this project is completed related to this search script and other projects.
