The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation has an online database that allows users to login and download .txt files that contain information on any bank. Data is submitted by the banks 4 times per year, and the data is released in one bulk file 60 days after it is submitted. However, 30 days after the data is submitted you can download data from the site one bank at a time. Each file comes as a .txt file and is in the same format. Each bank is identified by a federally assigned number, and the site provides a list of numbers for which data is available as of the date you request it. Each download takes about 1 second, and each user can download 1,000 records in any 24 hour period.

To automate this, a system would have to be created that stores 8 user names and passwords for the site, downloads a list of the banks for which data is available, and downloads each .txt file into a defined folder on my C drive. After 1,000 downloads are reached, the system would need to cycle to another username and so on for all 7,000+ files.
Once all the text files are in the folder, the system would need to compile all the .txt files into one .csv file.

I open up the software and select my source folder ONE and TWO. Then I select my destination folder. Once I execute the program to merge the files, the end result will give me files named apples-final.txt, oranges-final.txt, bananas-final.txt, etc. The destination files will have the data from both source folders. The data from source folder TWO is added on to source folder ONE.
