We will like to develop MS Access Script that will read text '|' delimiter file, into 2 different Access Table. If the first field on the line is H then it will be read to H table. And if the first field on the line is D then it will be read to D table and also populate the PO_Number to each sub sequence D table until it reaches another H.

If Ms Access is NOT a good idea for this task, a suitable program would be OK.

so that a flat (.txt) file produced from a query has space for extra characters in the Unique ID field. As the number of rows of data in the database has increased, the character length for the Unique ID field has had to be increased in the appropriate table, but I don't know how to increase the alloted space for this in the flat file produced, with the result that characters (digits) are cut off.

the coding for me originally compiled the code so I can't make the small change myself, but will need someone who knows how to make XML do a bulk upload using data from MS-Access. I believe he used visual basic or visual studio to get this to work last time.

Ideally, I would like the project to provide me with an Access database with a macro that when launched reads a table with the relevant data and posts it up to our supplier.

You can write this in two, three, four etc. steps. And add columns to the table if needed. The queries will be called from a macro that will be executed on the press of a button - just FYI.
