BlogFarm Assistant (Wordpress)

This is what is required:
WordPress 2.0 install assistant:
We need a script that can take the generally available Wordpress 2.0 script at www.wordpress.org, and help to automate installing multiple copies in either
subdomains or subdirectories on the domain hosting the blog.
The install of wordpress is actually quite simple (even I can do it). The issue we have is the time consuming part of installing 10-30 blogs on one domain.
This is what we hope we can address with this script.
To install WordPress 2.0, the process is pretty standard:
Create a Database Name
Create a Database User (for the database created)
(We would like the script to automate this, like how fantastico does it for one install)
Upload the wordpress scripts into one or more directories.
Update the Config file to reflect the database/user name and password, and when installing in more then one directory, their is a PHP function that allows you to use the same database for mulitple blogs. It looks like this in the wp-config.php file:
$ table_prefix = 'wp_' so its simply a matter of having the script change this
based on how many installs are taking place.
For example, if we wanted to install 10 blogs on the one domain (subdomain or
subdirectory), we would have the primary wp-config.php file, and the other nine
would become something like: $ table_prefix = 'wp_1' $ table_prefix = 'wp_2'
$ table_prefix = 'wp_3' and so on (each blog would have its own wp-config.php
file with its own unique $ table_prefix = 'wp_' entry.
When the script would be run, it was ask the installer (me or another user), how many Blogs we want to install under the main blog. I might choose 5 or 100 or whatever
(normally 10-20).
The script would also ask me for the MySQL database name and username.
The script would then ask me what I wanted each subdomain/subdirectory to be called. (If I chose 5, I would need to enter 5 names).
The script would then make 5 directories, and then update the wp-config.php file in the order it would install into each directory, meaning, directory1 would update the wp-config file as $ table_prefix = 'wp_1' and so on until the
directory5 had been created.
We would ideally like to automate the database and username creation too in step one (like how fantastico does it), but if this is not possible, we can simply do this via a control panel.
Once the script had installed the files into each directory, the screen would return links to each install file that is located under the wp-admin directory
called install.php and each link would open a new window to run the install for each subdomain/subdirectory.
Ideally, when the username and password were created for each new blog, they would be emailed (all in one email) to the user based on the email they supplied to the script in the begining scripts.
Hopefully the above information will be helpful for making a quote.
The source for Wordpress would come directly from WordPress.org, so we should probably make this script be independent of this, so that once the script is installed, all that would need to happen is have the script go to the site and get the current version, or have the user upload the worpress files to a specific directory/location, so the script will run, and copy to all the subdomains/subdirectories that was required to be installed
