PHP or Rails Developer needed for Server Backend to interface with a mobile application.
You will create an API from the ground up (RESTful web services)
You will be fully responsible for every aspect of the server backend,
from design, to deployment of the app in a production environment.
We are looking for someone with experience in deployment and configuration of AWS EC2 instances.
We are open to using either PHP or Rails for development.
The project will be under version control. Ability to efficiently deploy from the repository is a must.
Please only inquire if you are a strong candidate for this project AND can complete in 2 weeks time. The project is on a very tight timeline so we are looking for someone that will be able to start immediately and provide a fast turnaround. Project Description: Multiplayer Game Lobby System
Required API Calls:

1. Create Account
Parameters: username, other user info
Response: Success, Fail
Description: Inserts a player object into DB along with associated user info.
2. Update Player state to one of the following states: AVAILABLE, BUSY, OFFLINE
Parameters: username, deviceId, user info updates (sync data between client/server)
Response: State change success, State persist success, State change failed due to new device exception, State change failed for any other reason
Description: Client will continuously call this to persist AVAILABLE state. If a client is not able to contact server for a specific timeout period, the user is set to OFFLINE state. The AVAILABLE state will be tied to a certain device. If a user is already AVAILABLE while the same user on a different device also requests to be available, this call will return ‘State change failed due to new device exception’ response. A user can only be AVAILABLE on a single device at any one time.
3. Retrieve list of AVAILABLE or BUSY players with filter parameters.
Parameters: filters
Response: List of players based on filters.
Description: Returns list of matching users that are available and match the filters. A use case scenario would be to search for a specific user, or to auto match with a random user. Another is to return only those users on your Friends List. Intelligent match making based on various user stats will be built in. (ie. return only users with matching SkillLevel. If too many results, truncate and return top 10. If too few matches, expand search to other SkillLevels.
4. Retrieve player info
Parameters: username
Response: the user’s info detail
5. Send notification to a user that match has been requested.
Parameters: username
Response: Request success, Request fail.
Description: A user initiates the match request and is set to BUSY state. A push notification is then sent to the requested user and also set to BUSY state.
6. Respond to notification.

Description: If a user rejects a match request, users are reverted to AVAILABLE state. If a user accepts, the match is initated.
7. Override login with new device.
Parameters: username, newDeviceId

Description: When a client receives a ‘State change failed due to new device exception’, the user will be asked if he would like to logout the existing active device and login with new device. If YES, the server ties the user’s AVAILABLE state will be tied to the new device ID. A logout notification is sent to old device.
