Wordpress Ecommerce Product Database Population
Required skills: MySQL, PHP, Wordpress
This project is to populate a MySQL database using already created CSV spreadsheets that containing product details. These CSV files contain, roughly, 900 products which all conform to the standard product taxonomy used by wp-ecommerce and unaltered, related plugins.
Once spreadsheet houses:
Product Name | SKU, | Image File-Name | Description Strings (x2) | Custom Types (x6) Pricing | Category Type(s) | Pricing | Cross Referce #(s)
We are using WP-Ecommerce for this WordPress ECommerce Website & Product Catalog. This particular group of plugins is unaltered and uses the WordPress
custom taxonomy within a MySQL database (the same DB used for WordPress install). There are a total of 3 spreadsheets containing the fields mentioned above that need to be imported, a total of 300 products and 900+ attributes. This would be very straightforward except for two elements that will not
allow the standard data to be imported with the basic importation

SPREADSHEET #1:
1. No changes to the data (strings or numbers/floats) need be done.
3. Here is the area we need help with, the data contents that do not allow for a standard import function to take place:
The data strings found in a few of the columns that use the quotation character (") to signify inches and measurements. The standard importer in WordPress does not handle these (in text) quotation marks correctly as they are a type of deliminator within the MySQL import language. While a
typical product row in the CSV file is:
SKU0129, Category, SKU129.png, 37.375, 28.25, 2, 2 1/2“ – Top left 3 5/8” to center, 2 1/2” – Bottom right 6” to center 3", Valeo OE replacement, Vent &
Drain point to fenders, OEM#778195
To illustrate the " (quotation mark) import problem, in the above example upon importing the data in the collumn / cell:
2 1/2“ – Top left 3 5/8” to center
Upon import only shows:
2 1/2
and the data after, and including, the inches character (") is lost.

SPREADSHEET #2:
The data in this spreadsheet contains the exact same SKU as in the first sheet above, but each SKU may have several associated OEM #(s).
For instance - references the CSV that contains these cross referece numbers, the two collumn and multiple row data looks like:
SKU0129, OEM#77692
SKU0129, OEM#009176
SKU0129, OEM#7A0044
SKU0130, OEM#8675309
SKU0411, OEM#755292
SKU0411, OEM#000692
> As you can see, the first spreadsheet contains ONE filed for "OEM#".
> The second spreadsheet has a variable number of these cross-reference OEM numbers.
> Each product will need to house these OEM numbers, but ONLY in one string. So the data in the OEM# string for SKU0129 would be a string of:
OEM#77692 - OEM#009176 - OEM#7A0044
The OEM # string for the SKU0130 would look like:
OEM#8675309
There are roughly 300 products with 1000 cross-reference numbers (OEM#) that need to be grougped together for each product.

SPREADSHEET #3:
Very straightforward, a listing of prices contained in each product file. There is a simple 1 to 1 relationship of price / SKU. Example:
SKU0129, $ 399.79

Looking for a QUICK turn-around on this and you will have access to the WordPress administration, the PHPMyAdmin (for the direct database access) and if other access is needed this can be determined / granted. PLEASE feel free to ask for any other specifics!
While this is simple - it is just a touch out of our in-house reach in MySQL query / population (importation) skills.
