Optimisation of a specialised search engine
Required skills: jQuery / Prototype, MySQL, PHP, Software Architecture, Web Scraping
We have a specialised search engine. It is using cron jobs to regular pick up data from external sources and is also using cron to update certain fields after the data is being plotted on the MYSQL db.
We are on MYSQL with a VPS (1 GB RAM). The site performance is very poor (even when there is not any traffic) which ideally would need certain MYSQL optimisation cron job optimisation and other techniques so that this site performance boosts up greatly. If satisfied with the performance, we are ready to give the regular maintenance of the website to the same person / organisation.
Applicants with similar experience would be preferred. Please also include your related experiences with your quote.
We need to get started on this urgently.

Video demo of a search engine
o should start with a very short summary of the benefits of the products. I have a business outline and a couple of charts you can use as base. Then demo the search engine. Some functionality are still missing (only available as photoshop mockups) so you may need to work out of screenshots in a few cases.
