Industrial design of silicone skin
Required skills: Industrial Design, Manufacturing Design, Solidworks
I'm looking for someone with experience designing silicone parts and interacting with manufacturers to get the parts fabricated. This will be a pair of silicone skin parts, or possibly three, which will be of low enough durometer to be deformed as needed to cover a part I'm getting made out of plastic separately, and to be removable.
Ideal bidder will have clear communication skills and be willing to discuss design in detail during the process, as well as be able to use judgement and experience to figure out best way to cover the product with the silicone. If this project is to have a milestone, it would be the design of how the silicone parts fit over the hard plastic part, with deliverables in the form of solidworks 2010 files. And the final part of the project will be assembling the data needed to have the parts fabricated by a third party, and 5 quotes from molders with prices and delivery times for 10, 100, and 1000 units. We can discuss details of color and exact grade of silicone during this second stage.
I'll send more detailed files to the successful bidder, but for now I have attached an image of what the part looks like to give you an idea. The distance from end to end is approximately 14 cm.

However, it would mostly involve someone who can handsketch drawings real well and depending on how good the hand sketches are I may or may not need computer drawings.
Some engineering skills would be very helpful but you certainly don't have to be an engineer.
Imperative that the person live in the Washington D.C. Area as i would need to meet with this person in person to get my points across!
