Get Mod Rewrite to work on Windows 2008 w/IIS7 like on Linux
Required skills: IIS, MySQL, PHP, Windows Server
I have a script that works on a Windows 2008 server running IIS7 as well as on a Linux server.
At the moment, I have it installed on a Windows 2008 server with IIS7.
This is a script that generates and manages "short" URLs.
The application works fine when I create a short url like: http://www.mylittleurl.com/?1and1
But I want to be able to create a short url like: http://www.mylittleurl.com/1and1 (note, the missing "?" mark)
There's an .htaccess file that controls the Mod Rewrite (for use on a Linux server). But since I am on a Windows server, the .htaccess file is not being used.
I also have a web.config file setup and in place for this website (http://www.mylittleurl.com/) but when I try to create a short url (not using the "?" mark) .. it just sends the user back to the home page of the application and doesn't redirect the user to the URL that it should.
I see many similar scripts and they all say something to the fact that the scripts require installation on a Linux server (with Apache) if you want to use the Mod Rewrite feature and the ability to not have a "?" mark in the shortened URL.
So, my question is ...
1. Is this possible to implement on a Windows server running IIS7 .. and achieve the same results so I can get this working .. so my URLs can be shortened without the inclusion of a "?" mark, or any other weird character(s)??
2. If so, .. I want to know if someone can help me make the necessary change(s) so it will work as I described. (So that I could use any of these "short url scripts" that say they require Mod Rewrite .. on a Linux server .. but run them on a Windows Server with IIS7 instead.)

I don't want to spend a lot of money on this. But I would like to figure it out if possible.

Perl Progam hangs as a service with windows 2008
have a perl program that runs a service on my Windows 2003 Servers.
When we try running that same service on Windows 2008, the service hangs and stops functioning within a couple of minutes. I am looking for someone to get this to work on windows 2008 without hanging.
The program is quite small and has a few underlying libraries.
