Collective Buying Site Logo and UI Design

Greetings,
We are starting a small collective buying website project that will have the similar concepts as www.groupon.com and www.buywithme.com
For this we are looking for a logo and layout design, these can be done seperately but we prefer if you can handle either.
FOR LOGO:
We need our project's logo to be simple, fun and trustworthy. You may use some elements such as "collective buying", "doing things together" ideas to add to the logo. Even you can relate some animal or other intersting stuff, we will leave it to the designer. We will need illustrator version aswell for the lastly decided logo.
We will require from you to come with afew different concepts so we can pick the one we like.
FOR LAYOUT:
It will be a xHTML website layout which should play well with the logo and must be EASY TO USE and such have such features:
We think of the color scheme as such (we are open to your suggestions):
-Black or another dark color with logo at the top
-A green navigation screen (similar to groupon that uses blue istead)
-A a light blue background(having some light graphic like in groupon), a good color for background would be: http://philippdoms.com/portfolio/
-Having white inner boxes as similar to groupon.com
-Footer that is having a similar taste as the header (groupon is a good example for this)
For these pages we need in such navigation:
There are several cities and Each city has several areas, each area has a single deal. So your navigation implementation should be considering this. (not like groupon as it only has cities while we also have areas bound to them)

We also need a javascript(which can be jquery) modal dialog that has the similar theme as the layout so we can pop up the information that we need as similar to: http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/5629/modalt.png
And please also we will use this information page layout so add form tex/radio stles fitting nice inside the left column.
-Should be cross browser compatible
-Should be UTF-8
-Should have the good SEO header tags.
-Pure javascript or using a elements for the jquery framework is fine for those "action required" areas.
-We will give you little details as this site will be a non-english country (like some word you will need to change for the gfx)
Better past reviews and explaining how this can be handle will be important for us to select the person/company to hire :)

feel a character may not be appropriate to the design please feel free to post your own opinions and examples of what style you think may work as the logo should be professional and modern first and foremost maybe something slightly corporate may help. If you can win me over with a few examples of the styles you think may work (again - does not have to be your own work as lon as you can match the quality) the job is yours.
