A new website to be designed.
Functionality it should have:
1. Main page in blog format, with feature to EASILY post articles, pictures, videos etc. You can build it on top of any blogging engine with easy to use interface.
2. A custom look and feel is needed for the site, it is very important that site has a professional look and should not look like designed by a novice or neither should look like it is built on top of a blogging engine like wordpress etc.
3. The site should have feature for users to register and request for newsletters.
NOTE: Newsletter generation/design is not part of the project, that will be done manually.
4. The site should be build ]such that it can be later used to provide minimal social networking features for the users i.e. like, search for users, add them as friends, post status comments which will be visible to friends list, administrator to create groups which users can join if they wish etc. You can use any available CMS for this.
The main page of the site will be for posting news in a blog style format (#1 above), with other add-on's to the main page like blogroll, comments, adsense, user counter, external links etc also being available in side panes. Please note this site will be cater to news on a very few specialized topics and will not be on general content.
The social networking part(#3, 4) is of lesser importance that can be done later as well. But the blog part should be built such that social networking can be later intergrated with it easily.
I would love it if you could post the time/ price estimates for each (Blog features and socail networking part) separately along with technical details on how you are exactly going to do it.
Please understand that I am a technical person, with enough experience in web development. This is a thought project of mine, for which I am not able to devote enough time and thus seeking help. In short, people providing precise technical details, simplicity of approach and user interface, flexible solution with scalability in functionality and performance will be given utmost preference.

New website like add2cart.it with Magento and vTiger
gin/password of magento backend, so it shall be modified to take login info not in the vTiger db, but in the magento user db. Or, we cann align both db near real time with a cron script
