Hi, I need some statistical analysis done on the fiction books: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
I will email you these books in Word format for ease of analysis.
You must have excellent english ability.
You will be using Excel to record the results.
This is a 2 stage task:
Stage 1 is a Chapter analysis. Stage 2 is a dialogue and time/place analysis.
STAGE 1 -- CHAPTER ANALYSIS:
1/ List the chapters for books one and two in rows going downwards on the left hand side in an
Excel spreadsheet
2/ Create columns along the top, and compute the answers for the following per chapter:
Word count
The Flesch–Kincaid reading ease
The Flesch–Kincaid grade level
First sentence
Last sentence
FOR EXAMPLE, THIS IS HOW YOUR SPREADSHEET SHOULD LOOK:

You would add the words loudly, and bitterly to your list.
Don’t include the whole sentence, just the word(s) that describes HOW something was said.
Don’t just do a search on “ly” either as this will not lead you to every adjective.
TIME and PLACE analysis
Create a list and sort it alphabetically on the first letter of these sentences:
I want sentences that tell the reader that we are at a new time or place. Anything that is related to time passing should be included.
For example:
A few moments later
Before long
Finally
Harry awoke the next morning
Over the next few days
The same applies to Places (there will be less of these):
Examples:
As they reached the classroom,
The castle gate was open
They were at the edge of the forest
Often, a sentence will include both a TIME and PLACE transition e.g.
“Ten minutes later they arrived at Hagrid’s hut.”
Try to include these in the TIME list.
END RESULT: A spreadsheet on the two books, a list of dialogue adjectives, and lists of Time and Place transitions.

Editing Two Scanned Books

r who misses NOTHING. You will be the LAST word before the book is published so you MUST be confident in your ability to spot any and all errors and format issues. Because the book will have already past editor inspection, the book will be relatively clean, making errors few and far between, and therefore harder to spot.
