I Have purchased and tested many different genealogy software and found many of them to be too complicated.
Too complicated for the users that come to use the site as well.
What we want is a user based genealogy website, where users can come register & search names, surnames, (with timeline, tribes & region options ), to find long lost relatives.
They can also post family names & photos and link them to existing people in the database if there are any to be linked to.
I want it to be easy to understand.
This is an indigenous genealogy website.
To post a family name or member to the database the fields should be: first name, surname, tribe, date of birth, date of death(if relevant), region, mothers name, fathers name, any children, any brothers and sisters and upload a photo. Also should ask for contact info such as an email or phone number if person is alive)
once submitted, it should store info in database and then do a search in the database for any existing family members and display the family members in the following page, where the user can say yes this person is related or no they are not. then that info gets stored.
the registration form should be basic, but with activation (within 72 hours)
but the user should have up to two weeks to finish their profile.
