Website design for a Retail website with link to Paypal ‘Website Payments Standard’ and ‘Paypal Supplied Shopping Cart’.
The site must be coded in HTML to keep things simple and allow us to manage it for the future when changing jpegs and written content.
The site should be readable and of constant appearance in as many browser types as possible. (We use Macs running on OSX with Safari browser.)
The site is to have an Index/Home page with buttons to open new browser windows for a ‘Contact Us’ page, ‘FAQ’ page, and ‘Articles’ page.
At any one time there might be approximately 100 to 150 items for sale on the Home Page, which is to have a row of buttons indicating different categories of items for sale, and when clicked, will bring up a different strip of thumbnails jpegs. Above the strip of thumbnails will be a large jpeg, and when a thumbnail is clicked it will display the large jpeg corresponding to that thumbnail.
There should be 10 to 15 thumbnails in the strip. We need to discuss with the designer whether this would involve a horizontal scrollbar or another solution.
Some of the large jpegs will be in landscape format and some in portrait format. The thumbnails can all be in square format and show only part of the total image revealed in the large jpeg.
From the large jpeg the buyer should be able to click on a Paypal ‘Buy Now’ button to Add To Basket and then to checkout, which will take the buyer to Paypal's site.
We will supply a mock-up of the appearance of the home page. The overall appearance though should have a clean, pleasant and positive appearance. Creative input from the designer is welcomed but not essential.
We will supply the content for the additional pages (FAQ, Articles, etc), which are to be brought up in separate browser windows.
It would be good if users are able to send e-cards (our design) from the site but we are not sure what this involves and whether it is realistic within budget, and bidders should discuss this with us.
