Either way It would have to include Forums, Private Messaging, allowing users to use html code, having groups, picking friends, games, music, movies, and a nice login and join homescreen. Lastly, I would want a very nice customized layout with a banner made with professional software. This would all have to be optimized for the search engines (SEO).

The site will run on a Linux server, with an Apache HTTP server and Tomcat servlet container. This being the case, there is room for flexibility in terms of what technology is used. (A Flash-based site could also be an option).
