Introduction:
Our firm has recently switched from a Windows Environment to a Linux Environment, we are currently running Fedora Linux on all of our machines. We are in need of workers who are experienced in using Linux who will be able to work for us from a remote location (from your location in the world), we are based in the United States. We will have you access our machines via remote access – your local machine will be essentially a thin client accessing our machines so no work will need to be done locally on your own machines, requirements for your machine (think client): broadband internet connection (to ensure a reliable connection)
Job Description:
The position will consist of configuring our LAN network (all machines are running Fedora, we can switch to a different distro if a verifiable, beneficial reason is presented for this). We have the goal of configuring our machines to run in a cluster using openMosix, we do not require you to have any past knowledge in openMosix, just to be capable and willing to learn, please see: http://www.openmosix.org.
After the initial set up we will have you work to configure our firewall / security system as well as to set up additional software that we will need on our system (ongoing process as we may add different softwares as we go forward, these would be standard software, easily deployable for experienced Linux user). We will also be adding more machines to our cluster and making additional clusters in the future.
Ongoing work – we will be able to provide longterm employment for you as an administrator for our system, even if you are not doing work 100% of the time we will be able to keep you on our payroll as a qualified on-call system administrator to fix any issues that come up and take on new tasks that we assign relating to the administration of our Linux system.
