The site is a spin off of www.purevolume.com
I am looking to do something similar in look and functionality.
I have a basic site design that I would like to see but leave it up to you to come up with a professional looking site. Here is what this project will consist of and what needs to be done on the website:
The first step would be for the user to be able to create an account and personalize it. Make a profile for themselves that would include info, pictures, and a way to upload mp3 files to their account. Inside their profile (when another user would brows it) there will be a selection of music that the member has uploaded and would be playable from inside that specific profile. (Please check purevolume for reference).
Members must also be able to select if they are a single artist or if they are a band when creating their account. This option as well as all other information in a users profile must be changeable at any time.
Next, a search device that would enable people browsing to sort a list of these members by specific criteria. One can select if he wants to view “bands” or “artists” by genre, location, hits, etc... (the best example of this would be when sorting out a folder in Windows where you can see the entire contents of the folder, but it is organized by types).
Next, a ranking system. This ranking will be linked to a list that would be on the index page. This list would automatically update according to how many visits a certain member has had. The more hits, the higher you rank. This list would be ranked from 1-10. There will be 2 lists like this on the main page. One for bands and one for single artists.
Another option that needs to be added would be a Featured section on the main index. This list will be altered by myself. Again, it is a top10 list that will have the picture and info that is in the profile of the selected featured artist. I would like this option as simple as possible so that all I have to do is select a profile and it will enter the information in the spot 1-10 that I choose.
There are a few other sections that will be in the navigation bar such as news, interviews, events, etc. where topics and articles can be easily changed by myself whenever needed.
A final section is needed that resembles this website. A profile that is registered under "band" may create a post on a dedicated page and individual "artists" can post comments that will link to their profile. From here a band my contact the individual of their choice.

I will be upfront about how I judge: I'm picky. I like artisans who know design as well as the language itself. If I see layout alignment using TABLE tags instead of DIV tags, I won't be interested. I'll be running WC3 checks, but that won't necessarily be a disqualifying factor in itself.
